Swimming Carnival

Interhigh Swimming Carnival

From our recent USC swimming carnival, we selected a team of 45 students to participate in the Inter-high swimming carnival which was held on Wednesday 11 March. The Inter-high swimming carnival is a very competitive event as all schools across the North West Coast enter their strongest team in the hope of winning. Our team showed a lot of grit and determination throughout the day by continuously supporting one another and striving for our individual best. Throughout the day we achieved over 30 individual wins in the races.

At the end of the day Age Champions were announced. Congratulations to Heidi Auton and Landon who were awarded runner up champions in Year 9. Savannah McCauley in Year 7, Samantha McCauley in Year 8 and Jensen Walton in Year 10 were awarded Champions in their age groups.

Throughout the 112 events only one record was broken. The Year 10 50m freestyle record was set in 1986. After 34 years, the new record will stand with Jensen Walton in a time of 26.03 seconds. The final presentation of the day was for the champion school. We sat in suspense as they announced the point scores from the bottom up. It came down to a very narrow margin, however USC was awarded second place.

On behalf of the HPE team, we would like to congratulate all of those who participated in this event and gave it their absolute best.
